Reese's Pieces: Rainbow Loom Fever!
I've got an addict in the house, a Rainbow Loom addict!I heard of this new craze last Christmas but didn't give it attention, thinking it's just another new hype for the holidays. Then I kept seeing it on my Instagram feed and just thought this would be Reese's type of thing. So one day, I contacted the seller on Instagram feeds and surprised Reese with a set. Eventually I got her an original Rainbow Loom kit in Toy Kingdom so she keeps one at home and brings the other in the car or wherever she goes. (did I mention I've got an addict?)So she got so into it, she's been making loom bands everyday, and surprises me with new designs every time. She watches the instructionals on You Tube and what she comes up with are just amazing I had to blog about it!Rainbow Loom arm party going onHer different designs: (left side: Ladder, right side top Fishtail, bottom Raindrops)Coral bowDuring the last Mompreneur Market, she set up a booth and called herself the Rainbow Loomiesshe made herself a signshe had a playmate-assistant that dayher namesake little Rees, daughter of Sitting Pretty's Mariel :)She sold her creations for 20 pesos each and had lots of Titas as customers (heehee)Tita Anne of Ants Pocket is modeling her rainbow loom headbandFishtail headband on reeseChokerBracelet with attached ringShe made me a loom chain because she says I'm always looking for my keys in the black hole that is my bag:)HairtiesKeychainsShe's looming everywhere!in bedin the carduring playdatesand visits to Bita! Her Tita Conci told us that you can find free downloable printable Rainbow Loom cards! So she immediately checked and made looms for her Lola, uncles and aunties and cousins who were at the family lunch last Sunday. She's even started to make her own video instructionals and though I was hesitant to share them at first, we've decided to post them here in case other kids might be interested to learn. Here she teaches how to make a basic loose chain bracelet:Hope you liked her video and there may be more "REESE'S PIECES" to come:)I am so amazed at how she's gotten so into looming and trying to learn new things all the time. She also loves gifting her Check out her latest creations as of today:Rainbow loom HairclipHibiscus braceletsRainbow loom doll (created together with her Tita Nikki Manuel!)My verdict on the Rainbow Loom craze- it's a nice new hobby for kids to learn and enjoy. Keeps their eyes and hands busy, and being able to create something they can wear, or give away to friends gives them a different kind of fulfilment. Now I just have to remind Reese to balance her time between looming, reading her books, and other activities- as we always say, we need to keep everything in moderation! Here's some additional info on Rainbow Looms:- Rainbow Loom was awarded 2013 Tagie Awards in the US and won as Toy of the year for 2014- Locally, the kits are available at Toys R Us, Toy Kingdom, Toy Express and Rustan's for P899.75.
