Our visit to Art in Island
After writing about two other family destinations on my blog namely Dreamplay and Kidzania I'm happy to feature yet another addition to my must-visit list for urban families. There's been some buzz about "Trick eye" museum concepts after the first ones opened abroad in countries like Hong Kong and Korea. It's such a novel and fun concept it was a matter of time that one would open up in this photo-crazy, "selfie capital of the world" country of ours.So it happens, the first 3D Museum in the Philippines, ART IN ISLAND has been enjoying a steady crowd since it opened in December 2014. We finally got to visit recently when family from the US and Canada came to visit.
From Cubao Ex, this is the entrance to Art In Island. There is parking available inside.

If you are able to bring or wear non-skid socks that would be a safe option especially for young kids. Also bring the student ID's of the kids. Students (as well as senior citizens) get a 20% discount on ticket prices. Coby, Zach and Reese inside the Crocodile's mouth Reese and Zach escaping an elephant stampede Gary doing his dunk shotEven Mom who was just hospitalized recently and came with us in a wheelchair could not resist joining in the fun. Check out her surfing shot as she only got wiped out with my brother-in-law from the States, BernieReese with her burning umbrella The Villanuevas (and Clara) horsing around Zach on the cover of Time Magazine
There was a good crowd that day but the flow of people inside was smooth. Surprisingly, waiting time at each painting was not a concern at all. People patiently waiting for their turn

While I wish that this creative space was made by Filipinos, it is still a great addition to places where families can have fun, be creative and bond the way Gary and Iand our family did.Gary and two of his siblings from abroad, Ate Joyce (my "Sisinlo") and Kuya BernieIf you plan to visit Art in Island, allot AT LEAST 2 hours to be able to tour and interact with the paintings. Of course don't forget to bring a camera or a good phone camera to make all the effort worth the trip.ART IN ISLANDAddress: 175 15th Avenue, Cubao Quezon City (Inside the Cubao X, Marikina Shoe Expo compound, in Araneta Center)Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/artinislandTelephone Number: (02) 421 1356Open 9:30am to 9:30pm everyday except Mondays and holidaysEntrance fees: P500 per adult, P400 per student, kids below 3 feet tall enter free
