Sinigang Recipes from Knorr #LutongNanay
For me, nothing can beat the comfort and satisfaction of a delicious, home-cooked meal. Even if it's fun dining out at our favorite places or trying new restaurants around the metro, I just love gathering the family around our dining table, enjoying the comforts of home, the great company and conversations, while savoring the flavours or simple, everyday dishes fresh from the kitchen. One of our favorite dishes at home, like most Pinoy families, is Sinigang. I love it so much I wouldn't mind eating sinigang twice a week or even more, since the dish allows so much customization in its sour base and ingredients. Personally, I love the sour broth especially when it’s piping hot, either just sipping it from a spoon or paired with hot, white rice is perfecto! My boys love the “sahog” whether it be pork cubes, sugpo, bangus, they help themselves to a hefty serving, including veggies and soup, and dump it all on top of their rice, and eat away. Reese, on the other hand, immediately looks for the okra, fishes it all out of the bowl, and once she has it assembled on her plate, can double or even triple her usual food intake as long as the “ulam” is sinigang with okra.Yes! We are definitely sinigang fans at home so I experience the latest Knorr Lutong Nanay event held recently at The Cookery Place in BGC, Taguig because the theme was Sinigang! The Knorr Lutong Nanay campaign champions delicious, home cooked meals for the Filipino family and has been gathering moms in these intimate events the past 3 years already."Our goal is to bring back the value behind home cooked meals especially since people choose to eat outside or even alone in this fast-paced world. Knorr aims to help more moms bring the family together through the best flavors in their cooking.” The Lutong Nanay campaign also helps busy and working moms find time to cook for her family by introducing simple, smart and great tasting dishes that the family will love through recipe inspiration. “Cooking is a force for good. When a mother cooks, it is often seen as a way for her to ensure her family’s well being – and through Knorr, moms can serve nutritious meals without sacrificing great flavor”- Knorr’s Senior Brand Manager, Czarina de Leon-ManaloI love the concept and can totally relate with what Czarina said. Cooking and preparing good meals for our family is another way we moms nurture and care for our family. Our family's health and well-being is always a priority, and though it can become challenging because of our very busy lives, finding better, easier ways to get good food on the table without having to slave away in the kitchen is a definite must. Our task for the day was to cook our very own sinigang dish. Before we were sent off to get cooking, our host Camille Prats (who was so warm and charming!) called in Chef Sari Jorge to do a short demo and give us tips and tricks we can use for our own dishes. Mom blogger Peachy of @thepeachkitchen was also called in to cook with them.Shortly after, it was our time to cook! We were grouped and each given a sinigang recipe to work on. Four different Sinigang variations were prepared and enjoyed that day, namely: Knorr Sinigang with Pakwan, Knorr Surf and Turf Sinigang, Knorr Sinigang na Grilled Liempo and Knorr Sizzling Sinigang.Neva (@manilamommy) kept saying she wanted to cook the Sizzling Sinigang and look how happy she was when she got her wish and got assigned to that groupRowena (@animetric) and Michelle (@mymomfriday) were there too!Our group was assigned to do the Knorr Surf and Turf. Our ingredientsSo happy to be grouped with such awesome teammates, Peachy @thepeachkitchen and Sabrina of @sinfullysabrina If you follow them online, you’ll see they’re experts in the kitchen! If only this was a competition, we would have had a good chance of winning because of my teammates! :pCooking time!Plated and styled Knorr Surf and Turf Sinigang!Surf and Turf refers to the seafood and beef ingredients in this dish. I dubbed this the "country club" version of Sinigang because it's so "sosyal". :)Check out the other finished dishes:Knorr Sinigang na Grilled LiempoKnorr Sizzling SinigangKnorr Sinigang with PakwanThink I’ll try doing this pakwan recipe at home! She holds cooking classes for our household help and cooks but I've been wanting to attend her classes or maybe even do a Mommy Mundo collab for mom class. I love Chef Sari's cookbook too! Here's the video from the event:Happy to have been a Knorr mom cook for the day!
