My Kidpreneurs at the Mommy Mundo Bazaar
Our kids have been exposed to our events businesses since they were born. Whenever possible and permitted, they join us at our events either as audience, participants, observers, or even as staff in production or registration. During the last Mommy Mundo Bazaar held last November 10 and December 8 at the Rockwell Tent, they were actively involved as kidpreneur vendors. My post about my creative duo started us on the idea to use our boys' interest in customizing toys to get them started on being kid entrepreneurs. Their booth COZACH (Coby & Zach) was part of our past expos but they were not really fully involved in the pre-planning stages and would just man the booths on the day. This time, they were fully hands-on from purchasing the items, to customizing it...and also recording costs and sales, talking to customers and manning the booth along with their Dad.While the boys (Gary, Coby and Zach) took care of their CoZach booth, Reese also had her own entrepreneurial thing going on which I helped her with.At the beginning, I allowed her to think of what she wanted to sell in her booth and since she is so into reading now, she wanted to make bookmarks. Together we developed the concept further, and I suggested concepts that would be of least cost and expense to us. Since we had materials and a laminating machine, we thought of the "Make your own Bookmarks" booth.Every business needs a brand and logo so I sat down with Reese and created this logo. I am not much of a graphic artist and just used clip art and fun fonts for this one, but my little girl was so ecstatic, she even exclaimed "You're the best mom!" when she saw she had a logo for her table! At the event itself, she manned the table almost the whole day (save for some "play breaks" with her friends) and was helped by her Dad also and Yaya Grace.Reese at work, yaya grace in background who was in charge of laminating...During the start of the bazaar, not many people were visiting Reese's booth and I was so surprised to see she started making small handmade coupons. She said she was going to go around the bazaar and hand it out so that people will visit her booth! For her mompreneur titas whom she was familiar with, she even gave special coupons for free bookmarks for their kids so that they would go to her booth! I wonder where she learned these marketing concepts- to think she is only 7 years old!Soon, she got what she wished for. She got full support of her friends and playmates, not to mention her titas! We were so blessed and thankful for her Titas from the SoMoms who even gave her social media buzz. Some people would come to the booth and say they heard about Bookworm creations on Instagram so they came and made a bookmark! Cool!with cousins Nia and Katie...and her BFFS and friends who are kids of her mompreneur titas...Naima's creationsand photo of just some of her SoMoms titas who were her sukis! We were even visited by Maiki Oreta and her kids! Maiki is one of the purveyors of kid entrepreneurship in Manila! She organizes the popular Kiddopreneur Event! Check out their page here. Thanks for visiting, Maiki!Uncle Tan and cousin Jake show their super support...as well as Tito Reggie who provided "security" with Dad at the boothEven Ninang Trina dropped by!Even if it was tiring for them, the kids had fun, learned a lot and earned some extra Christmas money too.And there were also other kidpreneurs at the Mommy Mundo Bazaar!the Balajadia kids who sold wash tapes and their parent's chocolate covered dried mangoesMayumi, daughter of Tricia of Dizzy Dress was selling headgear she made (and modeled) herselfplus Lara, who helped man her mom's Two Tots booth.Having our kids experience earning their own money and discovered the hard work also that goes with it made this a fruitful two days for them and for us. They learned some basic business principles such as operations, sales and promotions, and had a great time and even met people along the way while doing it.
