Bonding over Acne
We bond with people in different ways, and the same goes for me and my three children. Finding things to bond on has got to be a combination of mutual inclinations and interests, PLUS also a conscious effort to find that common ground. I think it is more the job of the parent to find ways to connect and with some kids it is a more natural process than with others. Whatever effort it takes though, I think it is just so important we never give up to find even one essential bond that can keep us connected, not only as parents+children, but moreso as people, especially as the kids grow older. In my case, so far, I've got it covered, but we know how these things can change as life progresses. For now, With Reese, because she is still young and because she is a girl, it's easy to have fun and bond with her over games, girly things and just plain playtime. With Zach, I honestly find it hard to learn his video games (I can handle Minecraft, but games like Portal, I tried to best to learn but my mommy brain cannot grasp!). Nevertheless, I'm blessed he is a crafter so we bond over crafts, buying materials, and DIY stuff. With Coby, we can bond over simple things like milk tea, or fashion, and now our latest bonding is over acne. That's right, acne! Who says you can only bond on happy things? And it really isn't a happy thing, especially if you've got it.So it was time to do some acne treatments in one of the best in skin care, Facial Care Centre.Coby and i waited for our appointment at the comfortable reception areaFirst step is to have a consultation with the dermatologist who prescribed a treatment for us based on the check upI asked for a joint room so that I could monitor his first time at Facial CareHere's the problemCleansing and extraction. Coby dreads this but good thing the therapist does it gently and it is almost painless. After cleansing, they do the Lasertone treatment for faster healing and rejuvenation of skinOf course, texting even while having facialsEvery Facial Care facial ends with a mask, This one is an anti- bacterial mask. Then of course I had my own facial, ready for my honey and almond scrub. This is the STR- skin toner and energizer meant to firm up and lift sagging skin.Like my samurai or geisha look? If Coby's mask was anti-bacterial, mine is for firming. Facial Care customizes treatments based on individual needs.Doctora checks up on us before we head out the centre. Now Coby and I have this running anecdote that if he has a pimple and I point it out, the next day I'll also have a pimple, and vise versa. The law of karma apparently is powerful even when acne is concerned and has been tested and proven between us, so we've become more prudent in calling out our breakouts. So next time, I notice something on his face, it'll just be safer to say "Coby, it's time for another visit to Facial Care." *wink
