Bento with Kat and LexNgo
Have you seen her instagram accoutn? If you haven't, you need to check it out now!Kat Maderazo is a mom who creates some of the most amazing bento lunches for her kids! I've never met her and only see her creations on instagram so when I was invited by Anne and Shiela of Common Thread to meet her, I said yes!Besides meeting Kat, I was also excited to finally see the new line of lunchboxes at Common Thread in Rockwell. LexNgo is a new brand distributed by Kat Ripoll (co-author of the Healthy Cooking for Happy Kids cookbook!)Together with other moms, and Dad! (my friend JJ who I invited and I know DID NOT feel awkward in the company of beautiful mommas, right JJ?), we learned from the master bento maker.Mish and Issa. This was the day I found out Issa Litton has OC tendencies, haha:)Laid out before us were all our materials and tools, including our LexNgo lunchboxes.Kat guided us through the steps, the first of which was to make a ball of rice. Then we were to cut the noriAnd make a nori-wrapped rice ballCreate triangle-shaped carrots and stick in some spaghetti noodlesThe ball will be the head, the carrots, the earsThen place viand and veggies around and assemble nicely. It was fun watching everyone and seeing their creations. Here's Mish's and her son DiegoAnna'sJJ's cat turned pigAnd my very own bento in my LexNgo lunchbox (before)and the Lex n Go box in its expanded form.I love that you can assemble the lunch easily while the lunchbox is in compact form, then you simply pop the bottom out when done, before putting the cover on.LexNgo is a brand created by Lexington Limited, a company that specializes in quality high grade silicone based products.
