A Visit to the Hong Kong Baby Products Fair

Every year we try to treat our Creative Juice team to a trip abroad to reward everyone for a good year and also as teambuilding and bonding time as well. This trip was the second time we brought the team to Hong Kong and i took the opportunity of making it an exposure/ learning trip since we found out that the annual Hong Kong Baby Products Fair coincided with our trip. There were shuttles available from different parts of Hong Kong  to get to the the venue, the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center.hk baby products showBaby showAs soon as we arrived there were organized registration areas and since we had signed up for visitors' badges prior to the trip, we went through this area quite quickly. The fair is organized by the HKTDC (Hong Kong Trade Development Council) which holds fairs of this magnitude almost every month, targeting international buyers to come and do their sourcing in Hong Kong. They are insanely organized and efficient- not only in terms of event and logistical implementation but down to their marketing. (A definite peg for Creative Juice and Mommy Mundo, and should be a peg also for our local Department of Trade and Industry!))Baby showBeing a visual person, having attractive and unique event graphics is always a goal and I fancied the whimsical look of the expo which they were able to keep consistent in the different areas.Baby showI also liked how they had big graphic walls to direct people to different areas, and also highlight their sponsors and exhibitors.Baby showBaby showhk baby products showCoincidentally, my Mommy Matters business partner-cousin Candy was going to be in HK at the same time so it was a great opportunity for us to scout around for new products. I guess the planets were pretty aligned that weekend! Entering the show was quite overwhelming so the team split up to cover meore ground. Candy and i went around together. There were interesting booths. Some were familiar brands, while some were brand new concepts that caught our interest as mompreneurs.Baby showhk baby products showBaby showBaby showhk baby products showhk baby products showMeanwhile, husband Gary was in heaven because simultaneous with the Baby Show was the Toy and Games Fair and the Licensing show...hk baby products showBaby showLicensed characters were all there to greet the attendees and invited people to their respective booths.hk baby products showhk baby products showBaby showBy the end of the day we were able to gain a lot of insights on logistics of an event of this magnitude...Personally I felt that there should be some Philippine representation at this event. There were booths from other asean counties but I didn't see any Filipino exhibitors except for the Click Licensing booth. I thought of all our innovative products made locally, the products created by mompreneurs and how I didn't see anything of the sort at the show.Baby showSoon, I hope Mommy Mundo can play a part in getting our local creations to this fair, and market our productsside by side with those of our Asian counterparts.Baby showThe Philippines, represent!
