Discovering Chichi Mary

A few months ago, I received an email from a mompreneur from Boston and was fascinated to find out she is a fellow Filipina with a 6-year old little girl, Mary. I immediately checked out her website and loved her clarity of vision-- with her tagline is Bringing Global Kids Fashion To Your Fingertips, her online boutique Chichi Mary makes select children's designer brands for girls ages 2-12 years old readily available online. Being able to offer premium brands, add to that the fact that they are able to keep prices within reasonable ranges and that they provide attentive customer service are wonderful pluses for us moms who look for unique pieces for our kids, while watching our budgets. The mompreneur behind Chichi Mary goes by the name of Mitshi Rodriguez. Hers is a story of inspiration and passion. If you read my blog and if you know me, you'll know these are my favorite ingredients to any mompreneur story. Inspired by her daughter, Mary, and motivated by her passion for fashion, Mitshi created Chichi Mary. She grew up loving fashion, Mitshi is taking fashion courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City even after getting her Master's degree, also in the US. I also found that fashion must be in the blood, as she has the famous Filipino fashion designer Cesar Gaupo as her grandfather. With passion and interest, Chichi Mary brands are carefully selected from all over the world, and she personally negotiates with each fashion house to ensure quality and some exclusivity especially in terms of fabric prints that they carry.Admittedly, I like keeping the kids' closet packed with basics because I'm just practical like that, but lately I make it a point to inject Reese's wardrobe with some special dress-up pieces too. Not only are these necessary for parties and special occasions, but also meant to remind her that shorts, shirts and leggings, while comfy, are not for all occassions and that it's definitely fun to be a girly-girl!So we shopped on Chichi Mary and it was convenient and easy. The interface was smooth and fast too.Chichi maryDiscovered interesting and chic brands:Chichi maryChichi maryJust look at these two pieces we got for Reese:This is the Djaknemala Aloha dress in black and white. I love the sharp black print on the soft cotton fabric. The bottom part is a bubbled hem so it looks great below the knee and even as it gets shorter when she grows taller.Chichi marynot the usual Christmas dress, and that's good:)Chichi maryand she, with the perfect 4-legged "accessory"Chichi maryThe second piece we got is one of the more popular brands on the site, Sophie Catalou. I love the bright colors, feminine cuts and cool styles, perfect for our weather.Chichi maryFlowy, feeling summery...Chichi maryChichi maryReese loves that she can move around in this oneChichi maryChichi maryand also that the dress goes with her favorite boots! There are 3 things I love about Chichi Mary. First is the convenience of shopping online, and getting it within a day or two! (Shipping takes 1-2 days to Metro Manila and 2-4 days to VizMin) Also, Reese is at that age that she has to have a say in the clothes she buys and wears so that means, she has to be shopping me. Since Chichi Mary is online, Reese can select and choose what she wants even if she gets home from school late and we have no time to go out to a mall.Second, their customer service assistants are on call to answer questions or even measure the clothes if uncertain about sizing. When I had questions about sizing, I got immediate assistance and even got measurements and recommendations for different brands – because sizing may differ per brand.Third and most important is the merchandise. I love the brands and the pieces, it was difficult to choose! I like that I am able to get choice pieces, sophisticated yet age-appropriate designs that are unique and not mass produced, high quality and relatively affordable prices. The collections are varied but all really nice and unique. Designs are not run of the mill and the prints, according to the site are exclusively done for these brands, so you wont be seeing them elsewhere. Some of the brands that Chichi Mary currently carries are Imoga from New York, Djaknemala & Stella Cove from Sweden, Room Seven from Netherlands, Siaomimi from Hong Kong, Bleu Comme Gris from Paris, Petit Lem from Montreal, Biscotti and Kate Mack from California and their bestseller Sophie Catalou from Barcelona. These brands are not available in outlets stores/discount stores in the US and are internationally recognized by publications like Vogue Bambini. It's awesome to have experience Chichi Mary and I thank Mitshi for getting in touch! Someday, if you get to visit Manila, or if ever fly to Boston, I hope we can meet and share our mompreneur stories!Chichi maryMitshi with her daughter Mary, who you will see modelling once in a while in the Chichi Mary site:)Check out Chichi Mary Boutique and the fab merchandise on the web or in their Facebook page.
