How to Make a Baby Girl

We were a family of 4 for 7 years before she came along.

Our last photo as a family of 4

Time came and we felt ready for one more child, and the obvious prayer was to have a daughter as a “grand finale”. We checked my sister’s Chinese “sex determination chart” then I downloaded all the info I could find on the net after googling “How to make a baby girl”. Printed it all out (for easy reference) and ended up with an inch-thick “manual” of sorts.

Recommendations would be given on the type of food or drink you should ingest, the type of underwear you should wear, when to have intercourse, sexual positions, what vaginal wash to use, to influence your baby-to-be’s gender. Some people would swear by the effectivity of some tips, but on the next post, another person would say those same tips did not work for them. So after going through the pages in our “manual” and still not getting those two lines in the pregnancy kit, we threw up our hands, and said, “It’s up to you, God!” and prayed. Just a month after our submission to fate (and faith), we got pregnant! Then faced the heavens and said, “Bahala ka na, Lord!” And after 9 months, tons of novena prayers, He blessed us with our little girl…

When God gave out talents…

Growing up, I was the type of child who was always into something, and thankfully, my parents allowed me to be so. I took all kinds of classes, sometimes with my sisters or my cousins, sometimes alone.  I took up swimming, tennis, golf, even Tahitian dance lessons with the Aldeguer sisters (that was the “in” thing back then!). I enjoyed Dr. Aurora Roldan‘s Reading Dynamics classes, piano, computer classes (because computers were a new thing, yes, we had to take lessons!), cooking class, and (a secret I’ve been keeping all these years) I even took up voice lessons (just one session then the teacher gave up on me!)  I remember just wanting to always keep myself busy, and tried to discover more about myself, what I enjoyed and could be good at.

Through taking all these classes I learned to be more self-sufficient, resourceful, creative and sociable. Looking back, I was just really an average performer in everything (err, maybe a little below average when it came to the Tahitian dance lessons and voice lessons), which is why when I look at my eldest, Coby, I just am so amazed.

Coby’s first love is basketball. At the age of 1, he was dribbling the ball with 1 hand, could dribble even without looking, alternating from one hand to another.  At 1 year old. Now at 13, he still plays a mean game and enthusiastically joins the leagues in summer to up his game.

At a Coach E Basketball Game

Through a program called Coach E, his skill level improved so much, he even got the chance to meet and play with NBA player, Tim Hardaway.

Coby amazed us (and even himself!) with his basketball skill, when he played on a local morning show (Unang Hirit) and never missed a shot! I was taking the video so you won’t see me with mouth wide open…wow. Watch Coby play:

Meet my crew

Meet my 3 kids. Made from one mold but born with different, distinct personalities. God is truly the most creative being i know.

Reese joined the “V” (V is the first letter of our family name) crew, composed of her big brothers Coby and Zach, 4 years ago. Below is one of the first photos of our 3 blessings together.  Reese was just a few weeks old then.

Welcome to my mundo!

I’ve been running a mommy-focused retail and marketing business for almost a decade now and thought what better way to celebrate almost 10 years of doing work that almost- always-never-feels-like-work, than by setting up my own personal space here on the net. And why not? when, from the very start, the source of inspiration for Mommy Mundo, the motherhood portal I founded, was my three children. Mommy Mundo was born from my own passion for my kids and my day-to-day experiences with them.

Here I share my own mommy “mundo”, my world– personal experiences as busy, passionate wife, mother, mompreneur– running several businesses while being an active mom and living life to the fullest.  It is in this spirit that I believe I can make my difference because truly, “mommies make the world go ’round!”
