During our family trip to New York last summer, I found it serendipitous that there was a baby show scheduled right in the city the same time I would be there. I had only planned to attend the National Stationery Show which I had always dreamed of visiting, so to discover another event such as the New York Baby Show doubled the excitement.
The New York Baby Show is an annual event organized by the New York Family Magazine. I signed up for the show online and was looking forward not only to find out the latest trends in parenting, products and services, but also to experience the vibe of a mom event in another country. After attending the Hong Kong baby show last year, I knew I was in for another memorable experience.
The show was held at Pier 92 which was a venue for fashion, art events and trade shows located at the heart of Manhattan, by the side of the Hudson River. I got my media pass and proceeded to registration.
We attended the event in the morning of the first day, and there was buzz in the air already. Bags were being given out at the entrance and we checked out the event map to plot out our itinerary.
There were play areas and activities for kids which Reese thoroughly enjoyed and luckily kept her busy while I went around
The venue had enclosed areas for seminars and talks that were scheduled throughout the day
The show was filled with new things to discover
and it was wonderful being able to meet some of the entreps right in their booths
There were also interesting new brands that I believe are not locally available yet, such as
4Moms- in the photo is the MamaRoo bouncer. (Just have to say- 4moms is such an innovative brand. Besides the Breeze playpen featured previously, its Origami stroller automatically closes at the push of a button and some models even have its own mobile phone charger!)
There were also services available that were interesting such CleanBee Baby stroller and carseat cleaning service
The Dads made their presence felt at the show. This is something I’ve always wanted to do in Manila and after the very well received Dad portion at last year’s Expo Mom, I think it’s about time we do this. Kudos to the active dads here who actively promoting their role here and gave support to other dads specially the expectant fathers at the show.
The main stage was at the end of the hall and loved watching these musicians play right before the main talks started.
I got the chance to personally meet Rosie Pope, celebrity mom of “Pregnant in Heels” which shows in the Lifestyle Network locally. She is also a successful maternity wear designer. Check out her website here. I told Rosie all about Mommy Mundo and how equally active the mom community is here in Manila. Nice meeting you Rosie!
Attending the show made me feel somehow connected to another community similar to what we had in Mommy Mundo. I spent the day with moms and dads who are also passionate about their families, wanting to gather as much information as they could and research on gear and services that are available to them.
Different continent, same spirit. Boy i loved this experience!
Mommy Mundo represent at the New York Baby Show! Wonder where my next stop will be?
